Self-Portrait
I thought this was one of my best works when I first did it, but now I'm not so sure. I think I did really well on the coloring job, but I have a real bad habit of making the legs too long and the waist too small. I was using this one on the EZboards for a while.
Spiritual
A peice I did for an exhibition. It didn't win anything, but got alot of praise from one of the judges, which was encouraging. I don't know why I drew it the way I did, used the objects that I did, gave the werewolf the facial expression that I did, or put him in the pose that I did, but what I do know is that I wanted the image to bring to mind a feeling of total peace, love, and emotionalism. I guess whether or not I was successful in acheiving that is up to the individual viewer.
FlashBird w/ her mate
A request from FlashBird of her and her mate. I kind of screwed up here. I was supposed to draw them with wings. I don't know why I forgot that. I started sketching it late at night while staying at a creepy inn during a 4-H provincial show in Bridgewater, while watching some movie about the French Revolution...Maybe that's why. I still think it turned out pretty good though. I'm usually not too good with pencil crayons, but I got the exact mood I was going for.
What house did THAT guy come from?
I don't remember where I got the idea to cross a werewolf with a Klingon, but I think it turned out okay. One of my older, yet still somewhat new drawings. Note the pawprint and Klingon Empire symbol combined. Probably didn't draw the uniform quite right but oh well, I'm not really what you would call a hardcore trekkie.
Ancient lupine warriors
A peice I did for the same exhibition as the "Spiritual" peice, only it was the year before. Another one of my few real successes with pencil crayons, though the chest on the middle werewolf is a little messed up but my lack of knowledge of anatomy at the time is more to blame for that. The column in the background makes the Greek influence pretty obvious, although I wanted the feeling to be ancient in general, not just of a particular culture. I think the female werewolf probably turned out best. I should draw females more often, as well as backgrounds.
Don't ask
It's pretty obvious that the male in the picture is me. Yes, the female is a real person, but I'm not going to tell you who she is, or why I made this pic. I don't want to get into it. I think the work is both a success and a failiure...A success in the sense that I wanted the mood to be a little risque, and bright (as if they were outside on a warm summer day), and I think that comes across immediately here. And a failiure because I over-did it with the shine and smudging. I used shine and smudging because I wanted the bodies to look smooth, but I used too much of both and just made the whole thing look rather sloppy. That and the fact that I look like a dork with cornrows, in that pic at least.
Pack Mentality logo (second version)
The rather short-lived, second version of the Pack Mentality logo. While in terms of technical artistry this one is probably better than the first, in retrospect I don't think it was a good idea to use the same pic of myself I used on the EZBoards for the logo, because the theme of Pack Mentality is supposed to be rather dark and in that pic I look care-free and cocky. Probably would've looked a bit better if I had converted the pic of myself to B&W before putting it over the background and going over it with green.
Self-portrait for original logo
This was the pic of me I designed specifically for the purpose of using in the original Pack Mentality logo (Pack Mentality:2001). The hair and jacket were inspired by a photograph of Bizzy Bone in the liner notes of Bone thugs-n-harmony's album BTNH Ressurrection. I think the facial expression looks kind of goofy. And I'm not sure what I was thinking with the blue in the ears either.
